Subnautica 2 Crossplay

Xbox has stated that Subnautica 2 supports playing with friends on other platforms. However, the specific platform pairs that support crossplay and any limitations should be confirmed at launch. We will update this page with verified crossplay functionality once Early Access begins.

Subnautica 2 supports online co-op with up to four players. You can play with friends regardless of whether they are on PC or Xbox. The multiplayer mode is confirmed and will be available at Early Access launch.

PC and Xbox players should be able to play together in co-op according to Xbox's crossplay description. This means Steam users, Microsoft Store PC users and Xbox console users can potentially join the same multiplayer session. Exact compatibility details will be confirmed at launch.

At this time, PlayStation platforms (PS5) are not confirmed for Subnautica 2, so crossplay with PlayStation is not relevant for Early Access. Crossplay between PC and Xbox is described by Xbox. Any other platform crossplay combinations are not yet announced.

In co-op mode, the host can invite players from their friends list or through the game's multiplayer lobby system. Xbox players may use Xbox Party or in-game invites, while PC players may use Steam friends or in-game invites. The exact invite system and cross-platform friend matching will be verified at launch.
